NCC Students Participate In National Literacy Campaign

Who ate my sandwich? According to students at New Community, “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich.” Students at NCC’s Community Hills Early Learning Center read “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich” by Julia Sarcone-Roach as part of a national literacy campaign called Read for the Record organized by Jumpstart. Coordinated locally by Newark Public Schools, the literacy event brought parents into the classrooms to read the story to students. Students also participated in making crafts inspired by the book—in this case bear ears. Photos courtesy of Cheryl Mack.
