Dial For Help: Newark Launches 'Crisis Text Line'

The City of Newark has launched a new, 24-hour support service called the Crisis Text Line, where callers can receive free, anonymous counseling services in an effort to aid Newark teens and adults who are facing a crisis.
As of  March 20, anyone in Newark can text “NEW” to 741741 and a live, trained crisis counselor will receive the text and respond quickly. The crisis counselor helps individuals work through a moment of crisis, while remaining safe and healthy, by using effective active listening and suggesting referrals. This is all done through text message using the Crisis Text Line’s secure platform.
