New Community’s Simone Gagneron to Join New Jersey Leaders at 30th Annual Governor’s Conference on Housing and Economic Development

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Sept. 27, 2026

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY – New Community Corporation (NCC) President and CEO Simone Gagneron will participate in the 2026 Governor’s Conference on Housing and Economic Development, taking place Sept. 29–30 at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City.

This year, the Governor’s Conference marks its 30th anniversary, celebrating three decades of advancing housing and economic development throughout New Jersey. The annual conference brings together professionals and leaders to discuss housing, economic development and strategies for strengthening communities across the state.

Gagneron brings the perspective of New Community Corporation, one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive community development organizations and a longtime leader in affordable housing. Her participation reflects New Community’s continued commitment to collaboration and advancing solutions that support residents of Newark and communities throughout New Jersey.

“At New Community, we believe affordable housing is the foundation for economic mobility, health and community well-being,” Gagneron said. “I look forward to joining other New Jersey leaders to share ideas that can have a lasting impact.”

Gov. Mikie Sherrill, whose administration is focused on improving housing affordability and access, will deliver the keynote address at the conference.

“Housing and economic development are intricately tied together,” Sherrill said. “When people cannot afford to live near where they work, businesses struggle to attract and retain talent. When families are priced out of a community, that community loses its vitality. And when young people cannot see a path to homeownership, New Jersey loses talent from the next generation. A safe home is the foundation for everything. It’s an anchor for families and a platform to build a life.”
